What does it mean when fetal movement at my cervix becomes painful?

Q. I've always had some kinda movement at my cervix during my pregnancy. But this morning it is painful when my baby hits my cervix. Is everything ok? Why is it so sensitive?

31 weeks Pregnant

A. I just asked my doctor about this the other day. The baby's head is putting pressure on your cervix. It is nothing to worry about unless you notice bleeding, or the pain doesn't go away. My doctor said that it is just the baby getting ready to be in position for birth. It can happen once or it can happen everyday till the little monkey decides to get here.

If your cervix is closed during pregnancy, why do some have cervical mucus?
Q. I've read a lot that the cervix is supposed to remain firm and closed during pregnancy. If that's true, then why do some women have extra vaginal discharge, such as leukhorrea, when pregnant if their cervix is closed?

A.

Q. If you've felt your cervix during a pregnancy, what does it feel like?
I know it's a little tmi, but can you describe it?

A. You check your cervix all you want (just wash your hands first!) Some people's are difficult to get to, they're pretty far back. That said, a pregnant cervix gets like pretty hard cartilage, like the tip of your nose.

A. it isn't the cervix that produces the discharge, its the vagina itself.the vagina is self cleaning (the discharge is the way it does it).an increase in discharge while pregnant is completely normal

leukorrhea is a different thing - it can be a sign of infection and this should always be investigated

Is there anything they can do about a torn cervix during pregnancy?
Q. The first doctor I went to tore my cervix and it has bled during my whole pregnancy. Is there anything they can do for it until I have the baby? I am about 5 months pregnant now and it just gets annoying bleeding off and on.

A. I would certainly be looking into doing something legal about this Doctor that tore your cervix. I have had 2 children, and nor have I ever even heard that a Doctor could tear your cervix.

Ask them to stitch your cervix. That is about the only option you have.

How is there a discharge of fluids during pregnancy, when cervix is closed?
Q. I have heard that cervix is closed with mucus plug so nothing can enter or get out of the uterus. Then how is there discharge during pregnancy? Where do these fluids come out? Thanks for your answers.

A.

is it normal for the cervix to change positions during pregnancy?
Q. Is it normal for it to be lower sometimes than really high up other times? Just a question of curiousity. I know before pregnancy, your cervix changes positions all day, is this the same during pregnancy?

A. YES...very normal! Mine was down very low and kind of hard-ish..until like 6 or so weeks ago...now it is SO high and VERY soft, i can hardly even touch it! (Im 27 weeks now) So it soften and went high around 20-21 weeks..

What happens to sperm during pregnancy?
Q. I know that the cervix closes up during pregnancy, but does that mean that when you have sex during pregnancy that absolutely no semen/sperm enters the uterus? It all spills back out after sex?

I'm asking because I'm pregnant and after we have sex copious amounts of fluid left my vaginal canal. (sorry if tmi) I don't know if I should accredit this to excess discharge or his sperm having no other place to go.

A. probably excess disharge mixed with sperm.

How to feel for your cervix during the first few weeks of pregnancy?
Q. how would u feel for where your cervix is during the first few weeks of pregnancy? theres a possibility i might be pregnant,so i wanted to see if i could tell i am by seeing where my cervix is

A. Your cervix is slit deeper than you think it is.

When you have a pap smear doctors use equipment and long swabs.

You can also cause some damage by prodding around with it so just take a wee test they are pretty accurate.

Is it harmful to have intercorse during pregnancy with a tilted cervix?

Q. I was told that if your cervix flips during pregnancy that it can cause you to have a miscarriage.......Is this true????????

A. i have never heard that. my uterus/cervix were tilted before pregnancy, and as the pregnancy progresses, they flip into a more "normal" position. my doctor never told me anything about risks involved in that flip. unless it was your doctor who told you that, i wouldn't worry too much about it.

Does sexual activity during pregnancy predispose to premature labor?
Q. A lot of people say it's alright to engage in sexual activities during pregnancy as long as it could not cause discomforts on the part of the woman. But isn't it that stimulation (may be caused by sex) can lead to uterine contractions and this in turn might lead to premature labor? Do i make sense here?

A. No it does not cause preterm labor. It does cause contractions, which later in pregnancy can help progress things, but not cause labor.

You change positions when it hurts, if it starts hurting all the time you dont have sex, not because it can hurt the baby, but because it hurts your body.

The only time you dont have sex when pregnant is if you have an incomplete cervix or issues with your cervix, or a high risk pregnancy, or placenta problems, but those are things are found by your doctor and they tell you before hand.

Do sperm enter my uterus during pregnancy?
Q. I was wondering whether sperm ejaculated inside of me enter my uterus during pregnancy? My hubby and I have sex normally during my pregnancy but i don't know whether the pserm enter my uterus or is my cervix tightly closed during pregnancy so as not to let anything in? Thanks in advance.

A. Your cervix is closed, AND it has a mucous plug to keep anything from entering. So no, sperm does not enter your uterus during pregnancy.

Does your cervix and the outer edge of your vagina tighten when you get pregnant?
Q. I would like to know how soon this happens and what it feels like. I suspect I may be pregnant from last weekend, which would only be about a week ago, but my vagina feels slightly closed, like its clenched around something. I dont have any STDs, but I have heard that the cervix gets tighter during pregnancy and I was wondering if anybody could give me some information.

A. My cervix didn't tighten but it did get bigger and bulge outwards into my vaginal canal. It was bigger than it normally was, kind of like your cervix feels right before you start your period only it was that way all the time. Swollen would be the best way I could describe it.
