Is it dangerous to have a sore throat, cough and colds with mild fever during pregnancy?

Q. My sore throat is not that bad, it is only aching but not too much compared before back when im not pregnant. I also have cough and colds with mild fever. But my head is aching too much since the day I had an implantion bleeding that lasted only almost a day. I didn't take any medicine at all aside from Vicks rubbed at my back. And now I'm eating oranges and drinking juice and lots of water. Is this normal or is this something to worry about. Thank you in advance.

A. My midwife said to go to the doctor if I have a fever of 100+ and am unable to bring it down after taking Tylenol.

Is it normal to have a low grade fever during pregnancy?
Q. Im 24 weeks along. I have had night sweats on occasion. Right now I have a fever of 99.5. I have been eating normally, no headache or stomach ache I'm just concerned about the fever. Is this normal?

A. Your temp is usually about 1 degree higher when you're pregnant.. since normal temp is 98.6 degree's, having a 99.5 degree temp is not a fever... it's normal.

Is it normal to have a fever during pregnancy?
Q. I mean, 4 weeks pregnant.. And is it safe to take advil to bring down the fever?
My aunt is TTC and on cycle day 27, hasn't tested yet but is late because her cycles are 22-24 days.. She has a fever and took ADVIL.. so this early in pregnancy will it hurt the baby?

A. I believe a mild fever is normal, but you cannot take Advil. You can take Tylenol. Check WebMD for a list of common symptoms and acceptable medications.

What are the affects of taking drugs during pregnancy?
Q. my friend has been smoking marijuana and taking vicodin during her pregnancy she doesn't even look pregnant and she is six months. I was just wondering is the drugs are causing her to stay so little, and if she is harming her baby.

A. I dont know much on the subject, but other than the pain medication im sure the baby can be born with some kind of dependency. I've enclosed a webpage at the bottom though for you to show your friend exactly what she's doing to her unborn child.

***Mothers who smoke marijuana on a regular basis have been reported of having babies with a weak central nervous system. These babies show abnormal reactions to light and sound, exhibit tremors and startles, and have the high-pitched cry associated with drug withdrawal. Occurring at five times the rate of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Fetal Marijuana Syndrome is a growing concern of many doctors. Furthermore, doctors worry that children born to "pot-head" mothers will have learning disabilities, attention deficits and hormonal irregularities as they grow older, even if there are no apparent signs of damage at birth. Pregnant or nursing mothers who smoke marijuana should talk to their doctors immediately.

***Nonteratogenic Effects:Babies born to mothers who have been taking opioids regularly prior to delivery will be physically dependent. The withdrawal signs include irritability and excessive crying, tremors, hyperactive reflexes, increased respiratory rate, increased stools, sneezing, yawning, vomiting, and fever. The intensity of the syndrome does not always correlate with the duration of maternal opioid use or dose. There is no consensus on the best method of managing withdrawal
